Clarity has always been one of those concepts that feels slippery in life and business.
Sometimes, I know exactly what I’m aiming for, but other times it feels like walking through a dense, foggy forest. For moments where I’m seeking clarity, I’ve long held on to the idea that Action Begets Clarity – as in taking action is going to provide clarity through the process.
But recently, I had a client who felt stuck in a loop.
For the past few weeks, they’ve wanted to take action in their business to get clarity, but without clarity they didn’t know which action to take first. They know that they are ready to move beyond their current offerings, but don’t know exactly what they do want to offer next.
To move through this, we crafted a reminder that has helped get them step out of the loop faster each time:
There’s always enough clarity for the next step.
We’ve been doing a visualization each time they start to get frustrated or overwhelmed by a lack of clarity.
They imagine themselves in a dark forest with a lantern in hand. While taking deep breaths, they hone in on the circle of light before them and notice 3 details they can see about the forest. Then they take another step, and note 3 more details.
Here’s how the practice has helped them so far:
Hope this helps you whenever you feel a lack of clarity!
